banquet and keynote address by grace kim
SOLD OUT Drinks from 5pm ($5 alcoholic, $2.50 non, cash only) Dinner at 6 Keynote address at 7:30, with time for mingling afterwards The Social Science of Cohousing, by Grace Kim Loneliness has become an international health epidemic, from the UK appointing their first ever Minister of Loneliness, to Japanese elders committing petty crimes to seek out community in prison. And North Americans are not immune. In her keynote address, Grace Kim will illustrate how cohousing can increase life expectancy through social connections and share strategies to elevate the level of communitas in your community -- whether it be yet unbuilt or long-established. Grace Kim is the co-founding principal of Schemata Workshop, and has more than 20 years of experience in architecture. She is also the co-founder of Seattle's Capitol Hill Cohousing, a nine-unit mixed-use urban cohousing community completed in 2016. Check out her April 2017 TED Talk -- with 1.7M views -- on cohousing here! |
